Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, the 3rdedition of the Qatar Law Forum will be launched on the 11th and 12th of November at the Sheraton hotel in Doha. This forum continues to demonstrate Qatar’s commitment to the Rule of Law.
The goal of this forum is to address key issues related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16: promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
During the two-day forum, several sessions will be held. On the first day, three main subjects will be discussed: modern slavery, combating corruption and protecting and enabling displaced persons. The official opening for the forum will be on the second day, these sessions will discuss practical challenges within a strong judicial system (managing cases, tackling delay, and access to justice), in addition to the Rule of Law and financial inclusion.
Achieving a global understanding and commitment to the Rule of Law can only come through dialogue, understanding and mutual respect. These are all qualities promoted through the Qatar Law Forum.
The Qatar law forum is considered as a one of the most important prominent law forums, not only in Qatar and Arab region, but also in the world. Held first in 2009, then in 2012, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The aim of Qatar Law Forum is to study the sensitive legal issues that are happening in the world, by providing an unprecedented opportunity for leading figures in international law to debate the global commitment to the Rule of Law.
The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center, which is founded and headed by H.E. Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri, Attorney General of the State of Qatar, in cooperation with the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Center, headed by The Rt Hon Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers KG, the president of the Qatar International Court, are working in partnership for the Qatar Law Forum.
