The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center in Doha (ROLACC), in cooperation with the United Nations office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) last week held a training workshop for a Sudanese delegation of government experts.

The workshop, which lasted for two days at the ROLACC center, was designed to assist delegates working with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. Representatives from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime led the training, supported by members of the ROLACC staff.

The aim of the workshop was to assist the Sudanese delegation with the creation of a report, assessing how Sudan had implemented the requirements of the current cycle of the United Nations Convention against Corruption Review Mechanism.

On the first day, the workshop was opened with an explanation of the structure of the training. The principles and mechanisms of implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption were then explored, followed by an explanation of the model timeline for the reviews. Lastly, a review of the articles of the United Nations Convention against Corruption was undertaken.

On the second day, the practical difficulties encountered when recovering stolen or laundered funds, and the provisions of the Convention against Corruption concerning the recovery of funds were the main topics discussed.

The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Centre provides local, regional and international training courses for various institutions and bodies in the field of the rule of law, combating corruption and governance in the Middle East and North Africa region.
